Jonah (Part 3)
The book of Jonah ends not with Jonah’s obedience, nor with the repentance of the Ninevites, but with Jonah’s complete unraveling. So bothered is he by God’s mercy toward Nineveh that he would rather die than watch that great city live on. The cuts to the heart of Judah’s post-exile experience, and it cuts to the heart of our modern-day experience, too.
