John narrates the great battle, staged at a place called “Armageddon.” The battle John speaks of is bloody and violent, but in symbolism only. John works with all images pulled straight from the Old Testament prophets in order to demonstrate that the promises made long ago will be fulfilled, and that God will win the victory, no matter how great the powers of the world may seem.
