John takes us into the heavenly throne room and recounts the bizarre scene: one seated on the throne, twenty-four elders with thrones of their own, living creatures covered with eyes, and a seven-eyed, seven-horned lamb. John is framing the visions to come with worship of God and the Lamb, so that his hearers are clear: God is king, not Caesar.
