Jesus sets up a stark contrast between the way to life and the way to destruction. While it is tempting to understand these words in terms of our eternal destination (i.e., heaven or hell), what Jesus is really talking about is how we live here and now. The life of faithfulness is neither smooth nor easy, but Jesus walks the road ahead of us and beside us.
