Who We Are

By March 13, 2013No Comments
We are a Christian community committed to
growing in faith, serving in love, living in Christ,
and extending God’s gracious welcome to all.

Our Values

Community

We are a family—we care for one another, provide for one another, and strengthen one another. In our work and worship, we foster meaningful relationships that break down the barriers that divide us, remembering that we are all one in Christ. We make no claim to be perfect—no family is—but we work to make our common life a reflection of what God intends for the whole human family.

Discipleship

The foundation of our faith is the desire to follow Jesus, to be transformed by him, and to help others encounter him in life-changing ways. As disciples (that is, students) of Christ, we adopt a posture of humility—always ready to learn, to grow, and to be corrected—so that we can be instruments of God’s healing and redemptive work in the world.

Service

Jesus came not to be served but to serve. In the same way, his church does not exist for its own sake, but for the sake of others. We are committed to participating in the life of the Milford community, the metro Detroit area, and the world, doing what we can to improve the lives of all who suffer. With our time, our money, and our God-given gifts, we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ to our neighbors.

Welcome

God welcomes each and every one of us with open arms, and the church should be no different. God has shown us grace and acceptance, so we strive to do the same: to provide a welcoming and safe church home to anyone who walks through our doors. We want to be a place where people experience the hospitality of the kingdom of God.

Milford Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
